# Crane Service in Lakeridge Estates

> Lakeridge Estates sits on view ground in Lake Havasu City where the lots fall away from the street rather than rising above it. That reverses the usual hillside problem. The truck sets up high and the load travels down, so the landing is out of the operator's sight and the sight line matters more than the reach.

**TLDR:** Lakeridge lots mostly fall away from the street toward the water. The load lands below the truck. That makes the spotter and the sight line the critical part.

## Working Downhill

Lakeridge is the mirror image of the Foothills. Instead of lifting a load up to a pad above the street, we are lowering it down to a patio, a deck or a lower level. The reach is often easier. The visibility is much harder, because from the moment the load passes the roof line the operator cannot see it.

So the setup is built around sight lines and communication. A spotter goes where he can see the landing and be seen or heard clearly, and the load comes down at a pace that leaves room to correct. That is not slow for the sake of it, it is the only sensible way to land something you cannot see.

## Decks, Posts and What They Carry

Lower level decks and patios on these lots are frequently built out over the slope on posts. A deck that comfortably carries furniture and people spread out is a different proposition when a concentrated load lands on one spot of it. Before we set a spa or heavy equipment onto a deck, somebody needs to know what that deck was built to carry.

The same caution applies to the walls holding the lower ground. We keep outriggers on the street or on solid padded ground, well back from wall edges and the fill behind them.

- Spas and hot tubs lowered to lower level patios
- Rooftop and package HVAC changeouts
- Furniture, planters and heavy items to lower decks
- Mechanical and pool equipment placement
- Boulders and landscape features lowered to lower yards

## Our Process

1. **Photograph both levels.** One shot from the street and one from the landing point. The difference between them is the whole job on a lot that falls away.
2. **Confirm what the landing carries.** If it is a deck on posts, we need to know its capacity before a concentrated load goes on it. That is a question for whoever built or inspected it.
3. **Set the spotter position.** The operator will lose sight of the load. We agree where the spotter stands and how signals work before anything leaves the ground.
4. **Lower under control.** The load comes down steadily with the spotter on it the whole way, lands once and gets released. No repositioning halfway down a slope.

## What Is Included

- Setup on street level solid ground, clear of wall edges
- Rigging for controlled descent to lower levels

## Frequently Asked Questions

### My patio is below the street. Can you get a spa down there?

Usually yes. Reach down is normally easier than reach up. The questions are the sight line, the path past the roof and what the landing surface can carry.

### Why do you need a spotter here?

Because the operator loses sight of the load once it drops below the roof line. Someone with a clear view of the landing has to stay on it the whole way.

### Can the truck use my driveway?

Rarely. Driveways here slope down from the street, and a boom truck needs level ground. The street is almost always the better position.

### Is my deck strong enough to land a spa on?

That depends on how it was built. A deck on posts over a slope needs its capacity known before a concentrated load goes on it. We will ask before we lower anything.
