# Crane Service for Modular and Factory-Built Homes

> HCW Crane Service sets modular sections, park models, factory-built buildings and storage structures onto piers and foundations around Lake Havasu City. Access and setup are planned before the transport arrives, sections are landed square, and each one is held until your crew has it connected.

**TLDR:** A modular set is one shot. Sections land on the piers square or the marriage line never closes. We plan the access before the trailer arrives.

## A Modular Set Is One Shot

Most crane work has a second chance built into it. If a load lands slightly off, it comes back up and goes down again. A modular set does not work like that in practice, because once a section is bearing on piers and the next section is inbound, the sequence has taken over.

The consequence of a section landing out of position is a marriage line that does not close, and that turns into shimming, packing and a roof joint nobody is happy with.

So the effort goes into the setup and the reference marks before the first section leaves the trailer. Slow at the start, quick through the sequence.

## Access Is Decided by the Transport, Not the Crane

The crane can usually get where it needs to be. The wide load hauling a section frequently cannot. Corner radius, gate width, overhead obstructions along the last hundred yards and the turnaround at the end all belong to the transport, and they decide the whole plan.

On desert and hillside lots around Havasu the last stretch is often the hard part. A road that is fine for a pickup can be a problem for a trailer carrying a fourteen-foot-wide box.

We would rather look at that route with you beforehand than meet a stuck trailer on the day. Where the transport can stop determines where the crane sets up, and that determines whether the reach works.

## Holding Each Section Until It Is Connected

Once a section is down, your crew still has work to do before it is safe to release. Connection bolts across the marriage line, tie-down straps and anchors, and any temporary bracing the plan calls for.

The section stays on the hook while that happens, so the weight is on the crane and not on a half-fixed connection. The next section does not come off the trailer until the last one is secured.

Precast steps, stair landings and ramp sections can go in from the same setup once the building is down, rather than being carried in by hand or waiting for another visit.

## Our Process

1. **Review the Route and the Lot.** Where the transport can stop, what the last hundred yards look like, and where the crane can set up in relation to both.
2. **Confirm Section Weights and Pick Points.** Heaviest section at its working radius. Manufacturer lifting points confirmed and inspected before anything is rigged.
3. **Set the First Section to the Marks.** Piers checked, reference marks agreed, and the first section landed square. Everything after that references it.
4. **Complete the Sequence and Tie It Down.** Remaining sections set in order, each held until your crew connects it, then steps or landings set before the site is released.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can you set a modular unit on a hillside lot?

Often, but the transport route decides it more than the crane does. Tell us where the trailer can realistically stop and we will tell you whether the reach from there works.

### Do you use the manufacturer's lifting points?

Where they exist and are in good condition, yes, and we inspect them before use. If they are damaged or missing, we will work out a rigging arrangement rather than improvising with what is on the truck.

### Who is responsible for the piers being right?

The foundation contractor, but we will check the layout against the section before we land it. Discovering a pier problem while a section is hanging is better than discovering it once the weight is on.

### Do you make the tie-downs and connections?

No, your crew does. We hold each section on the hook while they connect it, so the weight is on the crane until the section is secured. The building gets tied down the same day it is set.
