Boom truck on outriggers working over a commercial roof

Kingman is 58 road miles from our Lake Havasu City yard, north on AZ-95 to the interstate and then east on I-40. It is a highway and rail town, so the work leans commercial: rooftop package units, structural steel, equipment setting and truck unloading. At that distance we book the day rather than promise same day.

Commercial and Light Industrial Work

Kingman is a highway and rail town, and the job mix reflects that. Rooftop package units on commercial buildings, condensers and makeup air units, structural steel for additions and canopies, shop equipment, tanks and compressors. Fewer backyard spas, more parking lot setups with room to spread out.

Commercial roofs are usually the easy version of the work. A parking lot gives us level ground, a full outrigger spread and a clean line to the curb. What has to be checked instead is the roof structure, the curb location and whether the building owner wants the setup outside business hours.

The industrial area near the airport has open pads and wide aprons. That is where the 40 ton earns its money, because there is room to sit back and pick with real radius instead of crowding a building.

  • Rooftop package units, condensers and makeup air equipment
  • Structural steel, canopies and mezzanine members
  • Compressors, tanks and shop machinery setting
  • Generator and transformer placement
  • Truck unloading and machinery moving in warehouse yards

Elevation Changes the Working Year

Kingman sits roughly thirty five hundred feet above sea level, well above the river. In July that is a mercy. Kingman afternoons are often ten degrees or more cooler than Bullhead City or Havasu, so we can work later into the day here than we can down on the river.

Winter runs the other way. Kingman gets real cold mornings, frost, and occasionally snow. Cold does not stop crane work, but it slows the start, and frost on outrigger pads and truck decks gets cleared before anyone climbs onto a load.

Wind is the thing that actually cancels days. The valley funnels it, and Kingman can be blowing hard on a morning when Havasu is flat calm. We check the forecast for the destination, not for home.

Getting There and Getting Scheduled

The route runs north on AZ-95 to the interstate, then east on I-40. Highway nearly the whole way, which makes drive time predictable in a way the two lane routes south are not. Fifty eight road miles, about an hour with a loaded truck.

That puts Kingman at the top of our second dispatch tier. Same day is possible when the morning is open, but the honest answer is that it depends on the day. Booking ahead is better, and it also means we can time the arrival around a roofing crew, an HVAC tech or a delivery truck rather than everyone waiting on each other.

Distance and Dispatch

Kingman is 58 road miles from our yard at 850 London Bridge Rd in Lake Havasu City. That is measured by road, not straight line, because the road distance is what actually decides how a day gets scheduled. Middle dispatch band. Same day depends on what is already booked that day.

  • The run is highway nearly all of it, north to I-40 and east. That makes the drive time more predictable than the two lane routes south.
  • Kingman sits well above the river, around thirty five hundred feet, so it is cooler in summer and genuinely cold on winter mornings.
  • It is an interstate and rail corridor town. More commercial, warehouse and light industrial work than the river communities.
  • Wind through the valley is a real factor. Kingman gets breezy on days when Havasu is calm.
  • The airport industrial area on the north side has the open pads and wide aprons that make big setups easy.

How the job runs

Our Process

  1. Step 1: Send the equipment details

Weight, footprint and where it lands. For a roof, we want to know the curb position and roof height. For a shop, the door width and the ceiling.

  2. Step 2: Agree the setup and the hours

Commercial sites often need work before opening or after closing. We settle the setup spot in the lot, the lane closure if any, and the time window up front.

  3. Step 3: Watch the wind, not the calendar

Kingman blows harder than the river does. If the forecast is bad for overhead work we say so a day out and move it rather than sending a truck up the interstate for nothing.

  4. Step 4: Set, release, hand it over

The unit or member gets landed and released to your crew. If a second pick or a truck to unload is waiting, it gets done on the same visit while the truck is on site.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Kingman from your yard?

58 road miles, north on AZ-95 and east on I-40. It is highway almost the whole way, so the drive time holds up better than routes with two lane sections.

Can you work outside business hours on a commercial building?

Yes. Early morning and after hours setups are normal on occupied buildings. Tell us the window when you book so the day is planned around it.

Will asphalt take the outriggers in summer?

With the right pads, yes. Hot asphalt is softer than it looks, so we spread the load rather than punching four holes in a customer's parking lot.

Do you handle structural steel here?

Yes. Beams, canopy members and mezzanine steel are regular Kingman work. The crane sets and holds each member while your ironworkers make the connections.

Does the wind really stop jobs?

It does. Kingman can be blowing when the river is calm. A suspended load in gusting wind is not controllable, so we move the day instead of forcing it.

Ready to schedule your lift?

Tell us the load, the site and the timing. We will confirm capacity, access and a window.
