Crane Placement for Spa and Outdoor Living Dealers
2 min readUpdated July 2026
Spa and outdoor living dealers in Lake Havasu City use HCW Crane Service for the placement half of delivery day. The crane meets the delivery truck, flies the unit over the block wall, and sets it level on its pad so the dealer's crew can move straight to hookup and handover.
Delivery Day Is Your Reputation, Not Ours
The customer does not separate the dealer from the crane. If the yard gets marked, if the unit lands crooked, if the crew stands around for two hours waiting on a truck, that is a story about your store.
So the standard has to be higher than getting it over the wall. It has to arrive on the pad square, on the marks, without a scuff on the shell and without a chipped block cap on the way.
That is mostly about not rushing the setup. The lift is short. The walk, the pads, the tag lines and agreeing on the exact position with the customer are what make the difference between a delivery and a complaint.
The Truck and the Crane Have to Arrive in Order
The most common way a delivery day goes wrong is arrival sequence. If the crane lands after the delivery truck, the driver waits. If it lands too far ahead, the crane waits. Both cost somebody money and one of them costs you a reputation with your carrier.
The workable order is crane first by a short margin. Enough time to walk the yard, set the outriggers and clear the swing path, so the moment the unit arrives it can be rigged and flown without a pause.
That only holds if we know the delivery window rather than the delivery day. If your carrier gives a range, tell us the range and we will plan for the front of it.
Level, Clear and Handed Over
A spa that is not level is a callback. It gets set on its pad, checked, and adjusted before anything is unhooked, because a quarter inch is far easier to fix while it is still hanging.
Packaging, pallets, banding and any timber used under the unit come out of the yard with us. A customer walking into their back garden after a delivery should find a spa and nothing else.
The dealer's crew then does what they are there for. Electrical, plumbing, fill and handover. Nobody from our side gets involved in that, and nobody from your side has to fight a crane for space.
How the job runs
Our Process
Step 1: Book Against the Delivery Window
Give us the carrier's window rather than the date. We plan to be set up and ready at the front of it.
Step 2: Walk the Yard Before the Truck Arrives
Pad location confirmed with the customer, wall height checked, outriggers cribbed and the swing path cleared.
Step 3: Rig Straight Off the Trailer
The unit is rigged, trial lifted, then flown over the wall on tag lines with no pause and no hand carrying.
Step 4: Set Level and Clear the Site
Checked for level on the pad, adjusted while it is still hooked, then all packaging and cribbing removed before we leave.

Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you meet our delivery truck at the customer's house?
That is the normal arrangement. We aim to be set up and cleared before the truck arrives so the unit can be rigged off the trailer without the driver waiting.
Do you take the old unit away?
We can lift it out and set it wherever it needs to go for collection, including onto a trailer. Whether it leaves with us depends on the arrangement, so agree that before the day.
What if the customer's pad is not ready?
Then we will not set the unit on it. Placing a spa on a pad that is still curing or is visibly out of level creates a problem that lands on you, not on us. Better to say it on the day than to be quiet about it.
Do you work with dealers on a regular basis?
Yes, and repeat work is where this gets easy. Once we know how your deliveries run and what your crew needs from us, the coordination stops being a conversation every time.
