Specialty and Outdoor Lifts for Havasu Properties
2 min readUpdated July 2026

HCW Crane Service places spas, boulders, sheds, safes, playsets and similar heavy items into finished Lake Havasu back yards. The crane works from the street or driveway and flies the load over the block wall, which means no machine tracks across pavers, turf, irrigation or a pool deck.
What Actually Needs a Crane in a Havasu Back Yard
Spas and swim spas are the most common by a distance. After that it is boulders and rock features, sheds and workshop buildings, gun safes, playsets, statuary, large planters, water feature basins and the occasional pool equipment set.
What they share is not weight. It is that the only way in is over a wall. Nearly every lot in this town is walled, and the gate, if there is one, was sized for a wheelbarrow.
The alternative people usually consider is taking out a fence section or a wall panel. That works and it costs a mason, a delay and a repair that never quite matches the original block colour.
Pool Decks, Pavers and Tile
Finished yards are the reason the crane stays out on the street. Weight goes into outrigger pads on the driveway or the roadway, and the load itself never touches a surface until it lands where you want it.
The travel path still gets planned, though. We look at what is underneath the swing at every point, because the concern is not only where the load lands. Pool covers, ramadas, shade sails, cameras on a corner and the neighbour's roofline all get identified before anything comes off the truck.
Irrigation and low-voltage lines are the quiet ones. If outriggers have to sit on a landscaped strip we want to know what is buried under it first.
Second Homes and Owners Who Are Not in Town
A lot of Havasu property is owned by people who are somewhere else for half the year. Deliveries land while nobody is home and decisions get made by text message from another state.
That works, but it changes what we need before the day. Someone locally has to be able to open a gate and answer a question, and we want a clear agreement on the exact landing position rather than a rough idea of it.
Photos before and after are worth more in that situation than anywhere else. If you are not standing in the yard, seeing the finished placement is the only way to know it is right.
How the job runs
Our Process
Step 1: Photos and a Rough Weight
One from the street, one from the landing spot. Weight from the manufacturer's sheet if you have it, an estimate if you do not.
Step 2: We Confirm the Reach
Wall height, roof height and the distance from the street to the landing point. That combination is what decides whether it works.
Step 3: Setup and Clearing
Pads and cribbing under the outriggers, swing path cleared, and anyone not part of the lift standing well outside it.
Step 4: Over the Wall and Down
Tag lines control rotation, the load goes down slowly, and it lands on the marks you agreed rather than near them.

Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get a spa over a block wall?
The truck sets up on the street or driveway, the boom goes up over the wall, and the spa travels through the air on tag lines and comes straight down onto its pad. It never contacts the wall.
Do you remove an old spa as well as set a new one?
Yes, and doing both on one setup is usually the sensible way. The old one comes out first, the new one goes in, and the truck only sets up once.
What if my yard has a shade structure over the landing spot?
Then it either comes down first or we come in from a different angle. We work that out on the walk, and we will tell you honestly if a structure makes the placement impossible.
Can you do this if I am out of state?
Yes, with someone local who can open the gate and confirm the position. You get photos of the finished placement so you are not taking anybody's word for it.
