Crane Service on The Island, Lake Havasu City

Crane flying an American flag from its boom at a lakeside event

The Island in Lake Havasu City is reached only by crossing the London Bridge. There is no second way on or off. That makes the bridge, not the lift, the first thing we plan around, and it is why we look at the 22 ton boom truck before the 40 ton on almost every Island job.

One Bridge, One Answer

Everything about working on the Island starts with the fact that there is one way across. The London Bridge is the only route on or off, and that means we plan the truck around the crossing rather than around the load. On most Island work the 22 ton is the right tool, and where the job genuinely needs more we work the plan out in advance rather than turning up and hoping.

The second thing is the road layout. The Island is set up for visitors, parking and foot traffic. There are places a boom truck can get to but not turn around in, and areas where setting outriggers means closing off part of a lot. We settle all of that before the truck leaves the yard.

Resort and Waterside Work

The buildings here are hospitality, not housing. That shifts the work toward rooftop and mechanical equipment, kitchen and laundry gear, and the structures that go with a waterfront business: shade covers, ramps, dock hardware and rails. Boats come in and out at the ramp, which is its own regular category.

Timing matters more here than almost anywhere else in the city. A crane in a resort parking area in the middle of a busy weekend is a problem for everybody, so Island work gets scheduled early in the morning or outside the season when it can.

  • Rooftop and package HVAC on resort and restaurant buildings
  • Kitchen, laundry and mechanical equipment placement
  • Shade structures, canopies and rails
  • Boats in and out of the water at the ramp
  • Roofing material onto resort buildings

Local Access Notes

These are the things that actually decide how a lift runs in The Island. We check them before quoting rather than discovering them on the day. Our yard is 5 road miles away on 850 London Bridge Rd.

  • One way on and one way off, across the London Bridge. There is no alternative route.
  • The crossing sets the practical ceiling on what goes over, so the smaller truck gets considered first.
  • Roads on the Island are laid out for visitors and parking, not for heavy equipment turning around.
  • Peak season and event weekends fill the parking areas and the channel road. Early starts avoid most of it.
  • Resort, restaurant and marina buildings mean rooftop mechanical work and waterside lifts rather than backyard jobs.

How the job runs

Our Process

  1. Step 1: Plan the crossing first

The bridge decides the truck. We check the load against what the smaller machine can do before we consider bringing the 40 ton across.

  2. Step 2: Pick the setup and the turnaround

Island parking areas are tight and busy. We agree where the truck sits and how it leaves before we commit to a time.

  3. Step 3: Book it early in the day

Early mornings avoid the visitors, the parking pressure and the heat in one go. Off season is easier again.

  4. Step 4: Lift, set and get clear

Work happens in one visit, and the parking area goes back to normal as quickly as possible.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a crane cross the London Bridge?

We plan every Island job around the crossing and start from the smaller truck. What can go across is the first question we answer, before anything about the lift itself.

Can you work at a resort without disrupting guests?

That is why we schedule early. A morning start before the parking areas fill is the least disruptive way to run an Island job.

Do you lift boats at the ramp?

Yes, given a setup position that holds outriggers and a clear line to the water. Ramp areas get busy, so timing is part of the plan.

Is the Island harder than the rest of Havasu?

Different rather than harder. The lift is usually simple. The access, the crossing and the crowd are what need the planning.
