Crane Service on the South Side of Lake Havasu City
1 min readUpdated July 2026
The South Side of Lake Havasu City is older and flatter than the hillside areas. Level ground makes setup simple, but many of these streets carry overhead utility lines along the front of the properties. Clearing those lines, not reaching the roof, is what decides the setup position on most South Side jobs.
Flat Ground, Overhead Line
The South Side gives us the easiest levelling in the city. Flat streets, flat lots, no cut pads and no retaining walls to keep off. On paper that should make every job simple.
The complication is overhead. These are older streets and a lot of them still carry service drops and distribution line along the front. A boom has to work clear of every one of those with a real margin, not a close pass. So the setup position here is chosen for line clearance first and radius second, and sometimes that means sitting further back and using more reach than the distance alone would need.
Established Lots and Added Structures
These are settled neighbourhoods. Over the years carports, covers, sheds, walls and mature landscaping have been added, and each one narrows the corridor a load has to travel through. It is common for the only clear path into a backyard to be a diagonal over one corner of the house.
Roof heights help. Most homes here are single storey, so the climb is modest and the geometry is comfortable once the overhead is sorted out. What we ask for is a photo from across the street that shows both the wires and the roof line in the same frame.
- Package and rooftop HVAC changeouts
- Spas and hot tubs into established backyards
- Sheds, carports and cover steel
- Boats and trailers into and out of side yards
- Roofing material load ups for reroofs on older homes
Local Access Notes
These are the things that actually decide how a lift runs in South Side. We check them before quoting rather than discovering them on the day. Our yard is 4 road miles away on 850 London Bridge Rd.
- Flat ground. Levelling a truck here is simple compared to the hillside neighbourhoods.
- Older streets carry overhead service drops and distribution line along the front.
- Homes are generally single storey, so roof heights are modest and reach is rarely the issue.
- Lots are established, with mature landscaping and structures added over the years that narrow the load path.
- Street widths vary. Parked cars, boats and trailers out front often decide where the truck can sit.
How the job runs
Our Process
Step 1: Photograph the wires
One shot from across the street showing the overhead line and the roof together answers the main question about a South Side job.
Step 2: Clear the parking
Cars, boats and trailers out front are often what limits the setup position. Moving them the night before makes the day quicker.
Step 3: Choose position for clearance
We pick the spot that keeps the boom and the load well clear of every line, even if that means working at a longer radius than strictly necessary.
Step 4: Lift, land, tidy up
The load takes the clear path in, lands where it belongs, and the truck comes off the street.

Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
The power line runs right past my roof. Is that a problem?
It is the main thing we plan around on this side of town. We set up where the boom and the load stay well clear, which sometimes means working from further back.
Do I need to move my boat off the driveway?
It helps a lot. Front parking is usually what limits the setup position on these streets.
Is a single storey roof easier to work over?
Yes. The climb is short and the geometry is comfortable. Overhead line and the load path around added structures are the real constraints here.
Can you get a spa into an established backyard?
Usually. Often the clear path is a diagonal over one corner of the house rather than straight over the middle. We work that out from the photos.
