Crane Service in Havasu Riviera

1 min readUpdated July 2026

Havasu Riviera is newer development at the south end of Lake Havasu City. The lots are narrow with block walls on both sides, so there is rarely a side yard wide enough to move anything through. Almost every backyard job here becomes an over the wall lift from the street or the driveway.

Over the Wall Is the Normal Route

The lot pattern here settles the method. Narrow frontage, house filling most of the width, block wall on both sides and a gate that will take a wheelbarrow. Nothing of size goes through that gap. So the truck sets up out front, the load goes up over the roof and down into the backyard, and the whole job is decided by roof height, wall position and where the item has to land.

That is routine work for a boom truck and it is faster than any alternative, but it needs measurements rather than guesses. Roof height, the distance from the street to the landing point and the weight of the item are the three numbers that matter.

Newer Ground, Newer Surfaces

Being newer helps in two ways. Utilities are generally underground, so there is no service drop across the front to work around. And the streets are in good condition, which gives a clean setup surface.

It hurts in one way. New concrete, pavers and finished driveways are exactly what a customer does not want cracked, so pads go wide on any decorative surface. Where a lot backs onto open desert, that edge ground is soft and is not somewhere we put an outrigger regardless of how firm it looks.

  • Spas and hot tubs over the wall into backyards
  • Rooftop and package HVAC changeouts
  • Pool and mechanical equipment placement
  • Sheds, planters and heavy backyard items
  • Solar panels and racking onto new roofs

Local Access Notes

These are the things that actually decide how a lift runs in Havasu Riviera. We check them before quoting rather than discovering them on the day. Our yard is 8 road miles away on 850 London Bridge Rd.

  • Narrow lots with block wall on both sides. Side yard access is not a realistic route for anything large.
  • Newer construction, so utilities are generally underground and the street is clear overhead.
  • Backyard work is over the wall from the front, which means the load crosses the roof.
  • Some lots back onto open desert ground, which is soft at the edges and not a setup surface.
  • Build out is ongoing in places, so a lot next door may be a construction site with its own traffic.

How the job runs

Our Process

  1. Step 1: Three measurements

Roof height, distance from the street to the landing spot, and the weight of the item. Those three decide the truck and the setup position.

  2. Step 2: Photo of the frontage

One picture from across the street shows the roof line, the driveway surface and the wall in a single frame.

  3. Step 3: Protect the driveway

New concrete and pavers get wide pads. We would rather spend two minutes spreading the load than argue about a crack later.

  4. Step 4: Over, down and released

The load clears the roof, comes down inside the wall with a spotter watching it in, and lands where you want it the first time.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a spa get through my side gate instead?

Almost never on these lots. The walls are close and the gates are narrow. Over the wall is quicker, cleaner and does less damage than trying to force a side yard route.

What do you need to know before you come?

Roof height, the distance from the street to where it lands, and the weight. With those three we can tell you whether it works before anyone drives out.

Will the outriggers mark my driveway?

Not with the right pads. New concrete and pavers get a wider footprint so the pressure is spread rather than concentrated.

My lot backs onto open desert. Can you set up back there?

We would rather not. That edge ground is soft and unimproved. Working from the street front is safer and usually just as effective.
