Crane Service in Viewpoint Estates

1 min readUpdated July 2026

Viewpoint Estates occupies high ground in Lake Havasu City, with homes on knolls above short steep driveways and streets that end in tight cul de sacs. Setup room is the first constraint and wind is the second, because exposed ridge lots feel gusts that streets down in the city never notice.

Room First, Then Reach

The hard part up here is finding somewhere to put the truck. Driveways are short and steep, several streets finish in cul de sacs laid out for cars, and the good setup positions are limited. We work out where the truck sits and how it turns around before anything is scheduled, because arriving and discovering there is nowhere to level up wastes everybody's morning.

Once the truck is placed, the lift is usually a long reach at height. Homes are often two storey with the landing point well above the street, so the geometry stacks up: distance out, height up, and load at the end of it. Those numbers get worked out properly rather than estimated.

Wind on the High Ground

Viewpoint gets wind that the streets below do not. On an exposed ridge lot a gust arrives with no warning, and the effect on a suspended load grows the further out and the higher up it is. Since long, high picks are exactly what this neighbourhood needs, wind is the single most common reason we move a job here to a different day.

That is worth planning for. If your job has any flexibility, we would rather take a calm morning than force a marginal one, and monsoon season from July into September is when that matters most.

  • Rooftop and package HVAC on two storey homes
  • Spas and heavy items onto elevated decks
  • Roof trusses and beams on hillside builds
  • Mechanical and pool equipment placement
  • Solar panels and racking onto high roofs

Local Access Notes

These are the things that actually decide how a lift runs in Viewpoint Estates. We check them before quoting rather than discovering them on the day. Our yard is 6 road miles away on 850 London Bridge Rd.

  • Homes sit on knolls above the street, reached by short steep driveways that will not hold a level truck.
  • Several streets end in cul de sacs sized for cars, so turning a boom truck takes planning.
  • Exposed ridge position means noticeably more wind than the streets below.
  • Long reach at height is normal here, and wind affects a load more the higher and further out it is.
  • Views mean two storey homes and roof decks, so landing points are often well above street level.

How the job runs

Our Process

  1. Step 1: Find the setup position first

Before we talk about the load we work out where a truck can level up on your street and how it gets back out. That is the limiting factor here.

  2. Step 2: Measure out and up

Horizontal distance and height both count against the same limit. On a two storey home above the street, both numbers are significant.

  3. Step 3: Watch the forecast for the ridge

It blows harder up here than in the city. We check wind for the day and we will move the job rather than fight a gusting long reach.

  4. Step 4: Lift once and land it

Long high picks are steadier when they are planned and unhurried. The load goes up, over, down and is released with a spotter watching it in.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you turn a boom truck around in my cul de sac?

Often, with a plan. Send a photo of the street end and we will work out the approach and the exit before we schedule anything.

My house is two storeys above the street. Is that too much?

Usually not. Height and distance both count toward the same limit, so we run the numbers rather than guess, but this is what a boom truck is built for.

Why does wind matter more up here?

Exposure. A ridge lot catches gusts the streets below never feel, and a long high pick is exactly the kind of lift that wind affects most.

Can I park in my driveway during the lift?

Better not to. The driveway is often the only place to stage the load or the rigging, and a clear frontage makes the whole job faster.
